Review of We’ll Never Be Apart by Emiko Jean
I love a good psychological suspense book and I am also obsessed with twin stories, so this one seemed perfect for me!
Alice has been committed to a mental institution after a fire that killed her boyfriend. The doctors seem to think that she set the fire, but Alice knows the truth: it was actually her twin sister Cellie. Or was it?
Desperate for revenge against her sister, Alice hatches a plot to find her Cellie and make her pay for what she did…I enjoyed this one. It felt a little like a cross between Girl, Interrupted and White Oleander.
Alice and Cellie have had a tough life — after the death of their grandfather, the sisters shuttled from foster home to foster home. They have a tight bond, but it feels like that Alice must break free of her more troubled sister in order to move forward.
Am I weird that I’m kind of fascinated by stories set in psychiatric hospitals? One of my favorite parts of the story was the relationship between Alice and her roommate. There was a sort-of-romance with a guy named Chase that worried me a bit, but it worked for me because it seemed like she was (mostly) using him to help her get to her sister.
The ending was interesting. I was surprised by it in a couple of ways. I think I was expecting something a little more out-there. But all in all, I really enjoyed this!

Oh no, I love hospital settings as well! This one was dark too! I agree that Alice's with her roomie was very interesting, especially towards the end. I felt like a lot was left unsaid.
I feel SO much better. And yes, I loved that relationship most of all!
The combination of White Oleander and Girl, Interrupted makes for quite a jarring read. I don't think I'm ready for this jelly… 😀
Really enjoyed this one! Definitely agree that it has a major creep factor.
I really enjoyed this book. its a first in a while that the ending did surprise me. I got it just before the reveal and that felt good. it was a really good read.
