How to Find a Romance in a Bookshop is perfect for you if you love a bookshop romance with a UK setting, low spice and a lot of small town charm!

How to Find a Romance in a Bookshop by Poppy Alexander
Note: How to Find a Romance in a Bookshop is a companion book to Battle of the Bookshops, so you might want to read that first if you want the backstory on Caplethornes.
Petra’s career in book publicity just imploded. When she gets an offer to manage a small town bookshop while the owners are on vacation, it seems like the perfect chance to hide and regroup.
Meanwhile, author Ross is trying to write the follow-up to his debut novel. His first book was highly acclaimed but its creation included a lot of drama and he broke off from his publishing team and feels lost and adrift.
With a new literary festival starting in town, can Petra help Ross get his career (and hers) restarted?
By far the best part of Battle of the Bookshops for me was the location, a small town with cozy vibes. Petra has no bookstore experience but she dives into bookstore management with gusto, including allowing both a writers’ group and a book club to meet at the store.
The title has double meaning, as the book club loves romance and romantasy and are great advocates of the genre!
The romance was felt very stiff-upper-lip British: sweet rather than swoony and emotional, with a brief third act breakup that seems to come out of nowhere.
