Extra! Extra! Looking forward to 2014!

Extra! Extra!

Extra! Extra! is my weekend post featuring brand new additions to my TBR pile as well as a summary of what’s new on the blog.

This weekend I’m linking to Stacking the Shelves @ Tynga’s Reviews or to Sunday Post hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

WHAT’S NEW?
I had a great Thanksgiving — I got a lot of reading done over the weekend, in between all the cooking and eating and cleaning-up. I tried to tackle a few books that had been gathering dust on my nightstand, which was a good thing. I have about 10 books to go to make my Goodreads goal of 200. I think I can do it!

On Monday I mailed a big box of books to the Pine Ridge Reservation — Candace from Candace’s Book Blog was organizing a drive and I was so happy to contribute.

NEW BOOKS:
I got a bunch of new review books through Edelweiss and NetGalley — this is great for me, because I am always struggling to find shelf space.  I’ll be compiling my 2013 Reading and Reviewing Stats soon — so you can check those out 🙂

Here are the new e-ARCs I’ve just downloaded or been approved for:

The Falconer by Elizabeth May (Chronicle, May 2014)

Bright Before Sunrise (Bloomsbury, February 2014)
Don’t Call Me Baby by Gwendolyn Heasley (Harper, April 2014)
Vivian Divine is Dead by Lauren Sabel (Katherine Tegen, June 2014)
The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings (Greenwillow, June 2014)
Buzz Kill by Beth Fantaskey (HMH, May 2014)
Huge thanks to Harper Collins, Chronicle, Bloomsbury, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for these!
Then, this came in the mail — my first Marcus Sedgwick book and I can’t wait to read it! Thank you, Macmillan!  She Is Not Invisible comes out in April, 2014.

So that’s about it for me. While you’re here, you can enter my stop on the Debut Authors Giveaway Hop —  open internationally!

If you live in the US, you can also enter to win an ARC of Roomies by Tara Altebrando and Sara Zarr. Check out the comments — there are some really funny — and really weird — roommate stories from some of my blog readers.

Happy reading, happy weekend and let me know what you’re up to in the comments below!

  1. I'm glad you had a great reading Thanksgiving and have almost made your reading goal. I've got 20 to go so I need to step it up a bit especially as the only reading days I really have are weekends and Christmas Day. I have quite a few of those e-galleys too and definitely prefer them to hardcopies for the space issue.

  2. I'm coming up on 150 books for the year. I originally set my goal to 60 and wasn't sure I would make that due to my reading slump so I'm thrilled!

  3. Ooh–I got the Falconer as well–it looks fabulous:) I'm so behind on mailbox posts (story of my blogging life lately) that I didn't even put up my latest NG/EW books–I'm still trying to catch up with last few months acquisitions;)

I've never read a Marcus Sedgwick wither–let me know what you think!

  4. Yay the Falconer! I'm very curious about that one. Also, the Murder Complex. Very eager to hear your thoughts on both of these (so hurry and read them) great haul and I hope you enjoy!

  5. I read She is Not Invisible this week and I looooved it. I love Marcus Sedgwick's work – all his books have gotten 5 stars from me so far – so of course, this one went the same way. I hope you love it when you get to it!

  6. Wow. I think my goodreads goal this year is like 60. And I think I'm pretty far behind lol! I'm sort of completely in love with the cover of Vivian Divine is Dead. I have no idea what it's about but pretty! And I've seen so much about The Murder Complex for so long now. The early reviews for it look really good. I hope it's amazing. Lindsay Cummings is just a super cute person 🙂

  7. I am soooo excited about The Falconer and Bright Before Sunrise. I've got She is Not Invisible, too, and it will also be my first Sedgwick novel. Hope you enjoy all your new reads!

  8. I'm glad your Thanksgiving was good! It's great you participated in the book drive. You're so generous! Congrats on the new books and hours of delightful reading ahead. 🙂
