Review of Good Spirits by BK Borison: a Paranormal Christmas Romance Book

I got SO burned out on paranormal romance back in the 2010s. Plus, is there really any hope for a romance between a human and a paranormal being?

But I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the audiobook of Good Spirits!

Good Spirits had the bittersweet feel of an old Christmas movie, like It’s a Wonderful Life.

Harriet, the main character, feels alone and unloved. With her wild hair, her quirky fashion taste, and her rejection of a promising law career, she’s the black sheep of her buttoned-up and emotionally distant family.

Nolan is an Irish fisherman who tragically drowned with his whole life ahead of him. Now he’s a ghost who shows people scenes from their past so they can right wrongs.

But what could Harriet have to repent for? And why is she so drawn (and then desperately attracted) to a ghost?

Good Spirits by had:

  • A small town antiques store with cats
  • A ghost with an Irish accent (the audiobook was worth a listen just for that. The way he said skirt like “skerrrrt!”)
  • A bittersweet feel, with Harriet’s parental alienation, Nolan’s untimely death, and a Christmas miracle.
  • Spicy ghost sex (how is this possible, but let’s just go with it)

Good Spirits  is Perfect For:

Those who like their Christmas romance with a less modern and commercial feel and a lot of poignant YEARNING. The setting is quaint and charming , one of the main characters is, well, pretty ancient. And Harriet is an old soul for sure!
