9 Irresistible Books Like Daisy Jones & the Six

Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid was a 2019 Reese’s Book Club pick and a huge bestseller that was made into an Amazon series.

Many adult readers of YA are huge fans of Taylor Jenkins Reid and her books make great crossover books for YA readers.

Daisy Jones and the Six was an epistolary novel that was compiled of a series of interviews with members of a 1970s band that experienced tremendous success and then suffered a spectacular breakup. The book had everything: romance, conflict, and an inside look at the highs and lows of fame.

Copy of The Future Saints which shows a woman with blond hair and her hands over her head, in a pastel landscape with sun and a palm tree

The Future Saints by Ashley Winstead

The Future Saints is a love story between a grieving and troubled lead singer in a band called The Future Saints, and a straitlaced and self-contained record executive who has been sent to either shape the band up or cut them loose.

If you loved the overall vibe of Daisy Jones, you will enjoy this one!

Mayluna by Kelley McNeil (2024)

why mayluna was like Daisy Jones & the six:

Mayluna gave me ALL the Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne vibes. The story is about a middle-aged woman with grown children whose family is shocked to discover her mysterious connection to a very popular 1990s band. What happened? You will keep turning the pages to find out how this poignant rock star romance ends.

I Would Die for You by Sandie Jones (2025)

Why I Would Die For You was like Daisy Jones:

This book on toxic fandom definitely felt a bit like Daisy Jones crossed with Almost Famous. I Would Die for You is set in the 1980s and (according to the author) based NOT on Prince but Duran Duran (!!)

This book about two sisters whose lives are forever changed by their fandom to the band Secret October has a suspense element which makes it quite different…

Can’t Look Away by Carola Lovering (2022)

Can’t Look Away has a timeline that switches between 2013 and 2023. In 2013, Brooklyn barista Molly falls hard for musician Jake Danner.

Ten years later, Molly is a married wife in Connecticut. But Sabrina, a mysterious newcomer in town, will rock her quiet life to the core!

The Griffin Sisters Greatest Hist by Jennifer Weiner (2025)

Zoe and Cassie achieved sister stardom in the early 2000s. As with Jennifer Weiner’s debut 2002 book, In Her Shoes, the two sisters are polar opposites.

Zoe was the pretty (but less talented) one, and hugely ambitious. Cassie is considered fat, she’s painfully shy, and the book suggests neurodivergent as well. But she has an undeniable talent. They are connected by a talented songwriter, Russell D’Angelo.

But Russell died, the band broke up, and the sisters never spoke again. Until Zoe’s daughter Cherry starts researching her “boring” mom and realizes there’s a huge story there, and an explanation for her obsession with becoming a singer.

When Stars Align by Melissa de la Cruz (2025)

When Stars Align feels like a fictionalized version of the Britney-Christina-Justin era stars from Mickey Mouse Club (“Kidz Klub” in the book).

The story follows three characters and their love interests through emotional and mental health crises, media firestorms and rehab, a conservatorship, etc. Which my 90s-loving heart could really get behind. The characters were loosely based on real 00s icons:

The story follows this threesome from 2004, when they are teens, to 2028, when they are in their early 40s.

Once More From the Top by Emily Layden

You can read my full review of Once More From the Top here, but, similar to The Griffin Sisters’ Greatest Hits, this story is about two friends.

In the present, Dylan Read is a super famous singer (think Taylor Swift, whom I think the character was based on) but that fame and success are overshadowed for her by the disappearance of her best friend Kelsey.

What happened to Kelsey? To come to terms with it, Dylan will have to reconnect with Kelsey’s brother and delve into dark secrets.

The Last Days of the Midnight Ramblers by Sarah Tomlinson (2024)

Why The Last Day of the Midnight Ramblers was like Daisy Jones & the six:

In the book, a ghostwriter is hired to write the memoir of a woman who was a groupie for one of the biggest rock stars of the 1960s and 70s, a man who died under mysterious circumstances.

The Last Days of the Midnight Ramblers had the journalistic aspect of Daisy Jones (which was an epistolary narrative) and also took place in the same 1970s era as the book.

In addition, The Last Days of the Midnight Ramblers really evoked the world of musicians and their personal relationships.

The Last Love Song by Kalie Holford (2024)

why the last love song was like Daisy JOnes & the six

This YA book is described as a “queer Mamma Mia” which doesn’t sound like Daisy Jones. But bear with me. Imagine if one of the characters in Daisy Jones had a teenage daughter who tried to figure out what happened between all the bandmates.

In The Last Love Song, a girl whose late mom was a famous musician leaves her a mysterious scavenger hunt that will help her learn the identity of her father. If you’ve ever pored over song lyrics, trying to figure out their meaning, this book is for you.
