Across the Star Swept Sea: a Retelling of the Scarlet Pimpernel

Do you love young adult books that are retellings of the classics?

My friend Stephanie at Bookworm 1858 and I decided to read The Scarlet Pimpernel together over the summer. It was a fun book and now that a YA retelling, Across the Star Swept Sea, is about to come out, we have more fun in store for you.

First, we’ll be discussing The Scarlet Pimpernel and then AASSS. Look for Stephanie’s post on Monday — I’ll link to it when it’s up — and mine on Wednesday.

In the meantime, you can enter to win Across a Star Swept Sea and its companion book, For Darkness Shows the Stars (a loose retelling of Persuasion by Jane Austen.)

Aren’t these the most gorgeous covers and the most evocative titles?

  1. I've been meaning to read Across a Star-Swept Sea. I had a few difficult with For Darkness Shows the Stars simply because of it being a Persuasion retelling (and reading it directly after I re-read Persuasion), but I am wholeheartedly a fan of Peterfreund's after reading her Killer Unicorns duology and would love to finish this duology as well. Thanks for the giveaway of these two!
