How to Get Ready for A Good Girl’s Book Series Season 2 on Netflix

A Good Girl’s Guide Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix!

Season two based on book two (Good Girl, Bad Blood). Pip isn’t chasing a cold case this time. Someone she knows is missing. And even though she REALLY doesn’t want to get dragged into a case that will upend the lives of people she knows, she can’t resist. Or refuse.

If you’re a book reader: welcome, we’re going to take this journey together.

If you watched Season 1 and haven’t read the books: honestly you might be in for an even wilder ride because you don’t know what’s coming.

Either way, here is everything you need to be fully prepared for AGGGTM Season 2.

Step 1: Refresh Your Memory

Pip and Ravi in a field. AGGGTM: Here's how to prepare for Season 2

The trilogy reads in order (and book two starts immediately after book one) so you’ll want to start with A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder if you haven’t. If you’ve already read the book or watched Season 1, you basically have the plot of book one covered and can jump straight into Good Girl, Bad Blood.

(And then you will immediately need As Good As Dead, because that’s just how it goes with this series.)

Season 2 picks up right where Season 1 left off — same town, same characters, same unresolved consequences.

If it’s been a minute since you watched, you’re going to want a refresher, because there are a lot of moving pieces that carry over.

Here’s the quick version of what you need to remember:

  • Elliott Ward (Cara’s dad) is in prison for murder and kidnapping
  • Becca Bell (Andie’s sister) is serving a sentence for the role she played in Andie’s death
  • Max Hastings is on trial for sexual assault
  • Howie Bowers pled guilty to drug dealing
  • Pip and Ravi are together and very much the best couple in YA

For the full breakdown — including all the spoilers and a book vs. show comparison — my AGGGTM series recap and spoiler discussion has everything. It’s the perfect refresher before you hit play on Season 2.

Step 2: Read Good Girl, Bad Blood

Good Girl Bad Blood hardcover

Yes, you’ve heard “read the book first” a thousand times. But Holly Jackson’s books are plotted so tightly that the show adaptation follows them closely, and knowing the source material means you’ll catch every detail the show layers in.

Good Girl, Bad Blood picks up not long after the events of Season 1.

Little Kilton (or Fairview if you are reading the American books) is supposed to be moving on. Pip is supposed to be moving on. And then Jamie Reynolds goes missing. Pip doesn’t want to help find him, but as always, no one else will do it!

Step 3: Meet the Season 2 Cast

AGGGTM Season 2: Meet the Cast

Season 2 brings in some really interesting new characters alongside the returning favorites, and if you want to know who’s playing who before you watch, I’ve got a full cast and character guide.

The main characters to know:

  • Jamie Reynolds, Connor’s brother and the missing person at the center of everything.
  • Charlie and Flora Green, Pip’s mysterious new neighbors.
  • Adam Clark: the new history teacher at school replacing Mr. Ward
  • Robin Caine is now Robin Hastings, Max’s cousin

Step 4: Take my Quizzes (Obviously)

You didn’t think I was going to let you walk into Season 2 without testing your knowledge first, did you?

Which AGGGTM Character Are You?

Which AGGGTM Character Are You?

First things first: find out which character you actually are.

Are you Pip — obsessive, brilliant, constitutionally incapable of leaving things alone? Ravi, the ride-or-die who shows up no matter what? Cara, who has been through a lot and feels everything deeply? Or maybe one of the Season 2 newcomers — mysterious Charlie or steady Connor?

Now you are READY for AGGGTM Season 2!

Okay. You’ve read the book, you’ve refreshed your memory on Season 1, you know the cast, you’ve taken the quizzes, you’ve done the puzzles, and you have your printable guide ready.

You are officially prepared for A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Season 2.

Now we wait. (It’s fine. We’re just fine. PIp’s got this!)
