Plot Summary for Legend by Marie Lu

What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors.
Born into an elite family in one of the Republic’s wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic’s highest military circles.
Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country’s most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.
From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths – until the day June’s brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect.
Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family’s survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias’s death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.
Review of Legend by Marie Lu
With a hate-to-love romance and a dramatic political backdrop, Legend is a perfect example of 2010s young adult dystopian fiction.
Legend has two narrators:
Day, considered a criminal by the Republic, is trying to support his family, which includes a terribly sick brother.
June, a recent (and star) graduate of the Republic academy, who is given the assignment to hunt down Day, whom she believes is responsible for the death of her beloved brother.
But are they right about each other?? (Of course not.)
On the positive end, I found the book fast-paced and surprising.
On the negative, it was a bit weird to me that June was only 15, as she seemed much older.
Legend also did feel a bit like a set-up book. At only 300 pages, it was a little bit lean. But of course, two more books are coming our way!

Crossing my fingers and knocking on wood!! Please oh please let the randomizer gods like me!!
Thank you you so much for the giveaway Jen! 🙂
I didn't know you had put Revolution on your keeper shelf!! 🙂
I want to find more of her books as audiobooks because the only other one I have found so far is either in the middle of the series (but I can't seem to find the beginning of the series) or one that hasn't gotten great reviews. 🙁
Yay yay yay I actually had a countdown for Legend on my blog! I can't wait to read it one way or another – I LOVE dystopian! Have you read Enclave? That was an amazing dystopian too! Oh, and I recently got to read Blood Red Road…I totally went on a fan moment there during the review on my blog 😛
