In Stormy Weather is a dual POV romance about two meterologists. Quincy has a PhD in atmospheric sciences and educates people about weather on her wildly successful social media accounts. Sebastian is a hunky TV weather reporter for a major network in New York.  They both grew up in the same Orlando suburb and have a banter-y not-always-so-friendly rivalry.

When Sebastian takes a leave from his job to work on a weather docuseries, where’s a better place to film than Florida during hurricane season. And when the two of them end up applying for the same job and chasing the same storms, their rivalry heats up and turns into something more passionate.

This book shared a workplace rivals theme with And Now, Back to You, but the Florida setting and epistolary elements made it unique. This was the only of the three books that I had a physical copy of, and the design was so cute, with weather-themed chapters headings and fun formatting on the texts and social media comments. I’m not the biggest fan of epistolary elements, but these were in just the right quantity and added a lot to the story.

Like And Now, Back to You and Chase Me if You Can, In Stormy Weather highlighted the gender imbalance in meteorology, with (quoted by this book) an 80% male and 20% female gender divide, and a tendency for some viewers and colleagues to treat females as “weather girls” who are just there as eye candy.

You can consult my chart for comparisons of the three books, but the rivals to lovers trope in this book was the most playful and the characters most mainstream and power balanced (with the ANBTY characters the most delightfully quirky and the CMIYC characters the most traditional (tending toward male dominant.)

The romance in In Stormy Weather was slow burn that ended up spicy, including several lengthy open door bedroom scenes.

In Stormy Weather had:

  • A tight-knit friend group of three guys and three women that reminded me of Friends
  • A sultry summer in Florida setting
  • Fun epistolary elements (texts, transcripts of Quincy’s livestreams, and viewer comments)
  • Spicy open door romance
  • Publication date: July 14, 2026 by Atria Books. Thanks so much to them for the advance review copy.

In Stormy Weather is Perfect For:

  • Readers who enjoy a dual POV romance
  • Those readers who love workplace rivalry plots, women in STEM and friend group (and romantic) banter
  • Readers who are looking for a fun and flirty summer story with lower angst (and definite series potential)
