The book’s narrator is Liz, who after recovering from a TBI (traumatic brain injury) shows back up at school and gets a truly horrifying welcome.
First, head girl Morgan perishes in a tragic drowning accident. Then someone seems to be going after the members of the secret society one by one.
Liz and her chums Taylor, Kat, Taylor, and Marcus, plus new student Cole, are in fear of their lives.
On the plus side, Win Lose Kill Die was a fast, fun read
Having a closed circle of suspects creates an atmosphere of paranoia and suspicion.
The plot moves quickly and we are treated to the narrative POV of the culprit, who gloats and chuckles for the reader. Kind of like “A” in Pretty Little Liars. I could have done without that, but it did help add to the suspense.
But I Also Thought the Culprit was Obvious
To me, there were only two viable suspects in this story. Experienced thriller readers might be a little disappointed in this one, but I think that teen readers (the book’s intended audience) will really love it.
The book doesn’t have the charm, the intricate plotting, or the character development of a Holly Jackson book like The Good Girls Guide to Murder, but it’s a great read for a teen looking for a fun and suspenseful read.
