Waiting on The Book of Broken Hearts

This week I’m impatiently waiting on The Book of Broken Hearts, a book by a favorite YA autho of mine, Sarah Ockler.

I LOVED Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler – you can read my review of Bittersweet here.

Jude has learned a lot from her older sisters, but the most important thing is this: The Vargas brothers are notorious heartbreakers. She’s seen the tears and disasters that dating a Vargas boy can cause, and she swore an oath — with candles and a contract and everything — to never have anything to do with one.

Now Jude is the only sister still living at home, and she’s spending the summer helping her ailing father restore his vintage motorcycle. No one wants to end up with a toaster on wheels, so they hire a mechanic to help out. Is it Jude’s fault he happens to be cute? And surprisingly sweet? And a Vargas?

Jude tells herself it’s strictly bike business with Emilio. Her sisters will never find out, and Jude can spot those flirty little Vargas tricks a mile away — no way would she fall for them. But old warnings fade fast, because Emilio turns out to be the first guy in forever she likes. Really likes. Jude’s defenses are crumbling, and if history is destined to repeat itself, she’s speeding toward some serious heartbreak…

But what if her sisters were wrong?

Jude may have taken an oath, but she’s beginning to think that when it comes to love, some promises might be worth breaking.

Okay, let’s break this down. Brothers who are heartbreakers? And one is a cute mechanic? And Jude is promised her sisters that she will absolutely, positively not fall in love with him?  Count me in!

  1. YUP. This is on the TBR. As is Bittersweet. I actually have a copy of Bittersweet, but I still haven't gotten to it. I'm trying to catch up on all my cute YA contemps over the holidays: Bittersweet, The Fault in Our Stars & The Statistical Probability of Love at First Site are all at the top of that list. Great pick! Thanks for sharing! Here's my WoW. Happy Wednesday! 😀

  2. This was my WOW pick this week too! I haven't read many of Sarah Ockler's books, but I did read Bittersweet, and loved it so much! I can't wait for this one; the premise sounds so good!

  4. Argh! I have Twenty Boy Summer and still haven't read it (WHAT is wrong with me!) This, like all of Ockler's books sounds amazing. And I hadn't yet heard of this one so great choice!

Plus I LOVE the name Jude. Totally reminds me of The Crying Game:)
