Sports gear! Think letter jackets and cheerleader uniforms.

Athleisure! From sweatpants and sweatshirts to cute crop tops and cargo pants. Jeans and tank tops and shorts. Sneakers and flip flops.

Vivid, dreamy and colorful, the Y2K Mermaid Core Aesthetic combines a mermaid princess aesthetic with a gorgeous underwater setting.

2000s Era Movie Aesthetic: Rich Kids

In the early 2000s movies, books and TV shows about the rich kid aesthetic were everywhere! The Y2K Rich Kid Aesthetic style was preppy with a twist, so let’s explore Y2K fashion for the upper crust!

We’re all fascinated by the rich. Sometimes they are the villains in 2000s books and movies, but shows like Gossip Girl (the books came out in 2002 and the original show in 2007) featured rich kids front and center, as main characters.

The 2000s Rich Kids Aesthetic is preppy and timeless for sure, with school uniforms (blazers, ties, and short skirts). But Gossip Girl put a modern spin on the traditional preppy style.

Hairstyles are traditional, with headbands and ponytails. Pastels and bright colors work for all genders. The aesthetic can be sporty (think sailing and polo) or preppy but also glam (think debutante balls).

A meet cute is NEVER out of style! Y2K has had some of the most iconic rom coms of all time and 2000s rom coms are filled with awesome Y2K fashion.

2000s Rom Coms have ALL our favorite character types: the quirky girl, the spunky BFF, the unattainable guy or girl, the snobby villain.

The 2000s Era rom com girl MUST be a girl not like other girls.

She often has quirky fashion taste. She pairs her jeans and t-shirts with friendship bracelets, chokers, and multiple thin headbands.

Her hair might be spiky (complete with butterfly clips, banana clips, or chunky highlights).

She could be a little awkward. She probably has a crush on an unattainable guy, who might or might not be the guy she ends up with (keep an eye on her best friend too.)
