YA Academy Awards — Dress Our Finalists!

Thanks so much to all of you who submitted nominations and voted. It’s time to find out who will be facing off this weekend in our awards ceremony. Just like in the real awards show, I took the top four candidates in each category.  You can see how close the voting was –some beloved characters and books lost out by just one vote! So when voting re-opens, please vote!
But remember, it’s an honor just to be nominated.

If you want to know more about the nominations and first round of voting, check out the nomination post and the semifinalist post.

And, there’s a new chance to win by dressing one of our nominees. But first, let’s find out who made it through to the finals!

Best YA Leading Guy of 2012

Adrian from the Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead
Daemon from Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Four from Insurgent by Veronica Roth
Jace from City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

Best Dramatic YA Book of 2012

The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Best Comedy (Funniest YA Book of 2012)

Before I Wake (Soul Screamers series) by Rachel Vincent
Spell Bound (Hex Hall series) by Rachel Hawkins
Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill
Endlessly (Paranormalcy series) by Kiersten White

Best Villain was a write-in category — by popular demand. Here are our top four vote-getters:

Warner
from Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi (11 votes)
The Darkling from Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo (7 votes)
Anderson (Supreme ) from Destroy Me/Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi (5 votes)
Queen Levana from the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer (5 votes)

Now … dress a nominee!  What would Sydney Sage wear to the awards ceremony? Perhaps that red dress we heard so much about? How about the Darkling? I’m picturing him in a long black coat. Just pick any of the finalists in any category and find them something to wear for the ceremony. You can include accessories if you’d like. Then leave a link in comments to your outfit — you can link to a web page, a Pinterest board, a blog post, or a Polyvore collage.

  1. How about something similar to this for Tris, only in black, of course. I like the top dress, it's tight like the Dauntless like. The bottom dress has a skirt that tears away so I am pretending the top one does too. Just in case she needs to get away and jump on a train or something. lol

Four can wear an all black suit, like this.

  2. Great post. All I could think when dressing the nominees was Daemon in a dark gray colored Armani suit with a bow tie. I couldn't find a pic of exactly what I was looking for though.

  3. Cinder really needs something that suits her kick ass personality. It needs to be a long dress with long sleeves, so she can hide her cyborg side. You can see that she feels vulnerable when everybody is looking at it. Also nothing too fancy or dressy, because that doesn't suit her. I think something from the Steampunk will look great on her:
    Dress Cinder.

  4. Augustus was so close! 🙂 I find it interesting that Before I Wake was voted in the "funny" category. I always view that series as more drama, than comedy. Hmmm….

Looking forward to seeing who wins the finals!

  5. Me and google image search had entirely too much fun with this!

I imagine Adrian would totally rock the suit and converse look at an award show and I found this excellent example: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_DvyYQdnG-5E/SoLk4JKcc3I/AAAAAAAAAWU/cEnVvTql7XM/s320/black-756718.jpg

Then I decided to find Adrian a fancy day of the awards show look and this just felt right: http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m5d942OaIN1qitigdo1_500.jpg

Then I was like 0h! what would Four wear? Yeah probably a fancy leather jacket ensemble (random aside if you search sexy male leather jacket you will not be disappointed ^.~): http://famewatcher.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/sexy-leather-for-men-chace-crawford.jpg

or Four could totally pull off this look: http://acuteconsulting.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/channing-tatum01.jpg

  6. Okay, for the record, I am very… anti-fashion, and live comfortably in jeans and sneakers. 😉 But if I did have to dress someone up.. I guess this dress for Cinder? -http://pinterest.com/pin/70157706667442165/

And I can totally imagine Zuzana wearing these boots- http://pinterest.com/pin/58054282668309846/

Hee. I created a pinterest account and spent a few minutes trying to find fashion pictures. XD
