A Curse for Christmas Past began with some awkward recap that made me suspect it could be part of a series, or a set of interconnected standalone books? Is Hayleigh a character from A Spell For Midwinter’s Heart, which I haven’t read? If so, please tell me in comments because I’m still confused.
What I did understand: A Curse for Christmas Past opens with main character Hayleigh unemployed, dumped by her ex, and the victim of some sort of financial fraud. She decides that a curse is to blame that the local Elk Ridge Coven is somehow responsible for her problems. So Hayleigh heads to speak to Stephan Midwinter.
When Hayleigh is told that she has to figure out who cursed her in order to break the curse, she and Stephan jump on the case.
In the process Hayleigh has some important revelations about how she’s always tried to please others rather than spend time firing out what she wants out of her life.
