Books to Read if your favorite Bridgerton Character is Sophie Baek Bridgerton

Sophie is our sweet Cinderella character whom we must protect at all cost!
We met her in An Offer From a Gentleman by Julia Quinn – read the book!
Sophie is a regular girl who falls for a Bridgerton. Can a normal girl have a successful romance with someone who seems a million times more confident and belongs to a different social class? Here are a few of my favorite books with Cinderella vibes:

Geekarella by Ashley Poston
This updated Cinderella story is adorable and features a food truck, sci fi fandoms and more. I loved it!
Tokyo Ever After by Emiko Jean
A girl who has always struggled with her identity discovers she’s actually the daughter of the Crown Prince of Japan. Also check out my author spotlight on Emiko Jean!
XOXO and ASAP by Axie Oh
When a struggling musician accidentally meets cute with Kpop royalty, has no idea who he is at first and is generally adorable!
Sixteen Scandals by Sophie Jordan
This fun book (a take on Sixteen Candles) features a masqurade scene, so I have to include it.
Also check out my list of YA Books with a Secret Princess Aesthetic, which are about normal girls who suddenly get thrust into a glamorous world!
A Book to Read if your favorite Bridgerton Character is Eloise Bridgerton

Outspoken and independent, Eloise is always pushing back on the strict rules of Regency society. Here are some books about rebels!

An Improbable Season by Rosalyn Eves (YA published 2023)
Three young women head to London during the Regency period, hoping to take the ton by storm. One wants to be a poet, one a scientist, and the other just wants to be the belle of all the balls. I picked An Improbable Season for Eloise fans because Thalia is a poet and Charis is an aspiring scientist. Both are going to struggle to find their place in society, just like Eloise.
The American Royals series by Katharine McGee (YA series published 2020-2024)
Yes, this series is set in America, but it has a similar soapy, alt-history feel. Plus a royal American family with a dutiful female heir, and her troublesome twin siblings.
A Book to Read if Your Favorite Bridgerton is Francesca Bridgerton

Quiet but a deep thinker who loves music, Francesca is resigned to society’s rules for women. But she just might find love after all…

An Unlikely Proposition by Rosalyn Eves (YA 2024)
A seventeen year-old widow just wants to have fun. How about a fauxmance? I picked this because … Francesca seems to serious and needs to explore her lighter side!
Don’t Want You Like a Best Friend by Emma R. Alban (YA 2023)
What? A Parent Trap retelling but make it f/f? Two women on the marriage market discover that their parents once dated and decide to play matchmakers. But are they falling for … each other? LOVED The Parent Trap and loved this! I picked this book for Francesca fans because she was looking pretty hard at Michaela in season 3. Just saying. Plus, don’t you feel like Violet is getting a second chance at love story?
Love Francesca’s modern ethereal style? I have some outfit picks for you!
Books to Read for if Your Favorite Bridgerton Character is Penelope Featherington Bridgerton

Fan favorite Penelope might have started out as a wallflower in her atrocious outfits, but she’s really an independently wealthy content creator who gets a massive glow-up in season three.

Lady Knight by Amalie Howard (2025)
Lady Knight is keeping a secret, just like Penelope. She’s not just a dutiful Duke’s daughter, she’s secretly a badass knight. Of course, her brother’s rakish BFF learns her secret. If this doesn’t scream “Penelope” I don’t know what does!
Bellegarde by Jamie Lilac (YA 2023)
Bellegarde is not set in 19th century England but in 18th century France. But as a “She’s All That Retelling,” (remember Laney’s epic glow-up in the 90s movie?) this book is exactly perfect for fans of Penelope! I really enjoyed this one!
Queen Bee by Amalie Howard (YA 2023)
First, this is “an anti-historical Regency-era romp” according to the author, which is about as good a description of Bridgerton as I’ve seen. Queen Bee features a multiracial cast of characters of South Asian, East Asian, and African descent. Second, main character Lady Ely has a secret identity. Penelope also keeps a lot of secrets.
Suddenly You by Lisa Kleypas (Adult 2000)
Unmarried “spinster” Amanda decides to do something scandalous and hire a lover for the evening. But in a case of mistaken identity, she ends up with a rebel nobleman, Jack. I love this one because the main character is a writer and the couple has a “we’re shocked to be in love” storyline.

Books to Read if Your Favorite Bridgerton Character is Kate Sharma Bridgerton

Fiery and outspoken, Kate is not enamored of snobby Anthony Bridgertona and not sure he’s good enough for her sister. But how the tables turn….

I Hope This Doesn’t Find You by Ann Liang (2025)
Sadie Wen has a trick to keep her perfect girl smile plastered on her face: she channels all her frustrations into email drafts. All her most vehemently worded emails are directed at Julius Gong, whose arrogance and competitive streak have irked Sadie since they were kids. o when Sadie’s emails are accidentally sent out, everyone at school knows what she really thinks of them, and they’re not afraid to tell her what they really think of her either.
Tweet Cute by Emma Lord
Adorable hate to love story about two teens whose families own competing sandwich shops in downtown New York City. They start beefing on Twitter and things just get funnier!
Fake It Til You Break It by Jenn Nguyen (2019)
Mia and Jake have known each other their whole lives. Their mothers, who are best friends, are convinced that Mia and Jake would be the perfect couple, even though they can’t stand to be in the same room togethe Mia and Jake decide they’ve have had enough. Together, they hatch a plan to get their moms off their backs. Permanently. All they have to do is pretend to date and then stage the worst breakup of all time—and then they’ll be free. The only problem is, maybe Jake and Mia don’t hate each other as much as they once thought…
10 Thing I Hate About Pinky by Sandhya Menon
One of my favorite hate-to-love YA romances ever! Pinky is tired of her parents nitpicking her life, so she gets the most boringly perfect guy she knows to be her fake boyfriend!
Check out my Review of 10 Things I Hate About Pinky.
Check out my review of Pride Prejudice and Other Flavors!
Dr. Trisha Raje is San Francisco’s most acclaimed neurosurgeon. But that’s not enough for the Rajes, her influential immigrant family. Up-and-coming chef DJ Caine has known people like Trisha before, people who judge him by his rough beginnings and place pedigree above character. He needs the lucrative job the Rajes offer, but he values his pride too much to indulge Trisha’s arrogance. And then he discovers that she’s the only surgeon who can save his sister’s life. As the two clash, their assumptions crumble like the spun sugar on one of DJ’s stunning desserts
Books to Read if Your Favorite Bridgerton Character is Benedict

Sensitive second son Benedict seems to be getting a chance to explore his sexuality in the show, so I picked books that reflect characters who are experimenting or keeping a LOT of secrets about their love lives.
You’re The Problem, It’s You (YA 2024)
An enemies to lovers m/m Regency romance featuring a second son who falls hard for a nobleman who represents everything he (thinks he) hates.
Sixteen Scandals by Sophie Jordan (YA 2021)
On the night of her sixteenth birthday, Primrose Ainsworth decides to don a mask and head to infamous Vauxhall Gardens for one wild night. There Prim finds an unexpected partner in mischief . . . and romance. I’m not sure what the Netflix show is doing with Benedict’s story, but in the book there is a masked ball and an enigmatic lady!
Lady Sophia’s Lover by Lisa Kleypas (Adult 2013)
Sophia wants revenge, so she takes a job at the office of Sir Ross Cannon, magistrate of the Bow Street court system. An unconventional love story like Benedict’s!
Love the Bridgerton brothers’ style? Here’s how to dress like them!
Books to Read if your favorite Bridgerton Character is of Alice Mondrich

Alice Mondrich never thought she’d find herself a member of the Ton, but when her young son becomes heir to her relative Lady Kent’s estate, she and her family find themselves in a strange new world.
There are many more Black historical romances set in the United States than in England, so that is what I picked!

The Davenports by Krystal Marquis (YA 2023)
The young women in a rich Black family in 1910s Chicago try to find love and happiness. No, it’s not set in Regency England but it’s
- Olivia, the dutiful elder daughter, meets a charismatic civil rights leader and sparks fly.
- Younger daughter Helen is more interested in fixing cars than falling in love, unless it’s with her sister’s suitor.
- Amy-Rose, the sisters’ childhood friend turned maid, dreams of opening her own businessand marrying the one man she knows she can never be with: Olivia and Helen’s brother, John.
Alex & Eliza by Melissa de la Cruz (YA, 2017)
As the Schuyler family prepares for their grand ball, their daughter Eliza can barely contain her excitement when she hears of the arrival of Alexander Hamilton, a dashing and mysterious young colonel. When Alex and Eliza meet that fateful night, so begins an epic love story that would forever change the course of American history.
In the pages of Alex and Eliza, #1 New York Times bestselling author Melissa de la Cruz brings to life the romance of young Alexander Hamilton and Elizabeth Schuyler.
