Jordan Sun is heading into her junior year at the prestigious Kensington-Blaine Boarding School for the Performing Arts. She has a huge problem: she’s a low-voiced Alto 2, which leaves her out of the loop in the performing world.
After she gets shut out of the fall musical for the third year straight, she gets an intriguing email: a spot has opened up in the Sharpshooters, Kensington’s elite a cappella group.
The only problem? It’s an all-male group. So Jordan auditions in her most convincing male outfit, and it turns out that Jordan Sun, Tenor 1, is exactly what the Sharps are looking for.

This book felt like a Y2K Throwback. Think Pitch Perfect meets She’s The Man.
But Noteworthy is much more than just a fluffy story about a girl with a contralto voice who attends a performing arts boarding school. A girl whose voice shuts her out of the typical female musical theater parts. A girl who decides to disguise herself as a guy and audition for an all-male acapella group so she can have her chance on stage.
Noteworthy doesn’t just use Jordan’s stunt as a plot device, it also takes a hard look at gender roles, stereotypes and expectations; the spectrum of gender and sexual identity and expression; and class issues.Highly recommend this one!

Get out of my head! I am posting my review for this tomorrow. We are so in sync these days. =) I also enjoyed this book, and have been really pro books like this, where the protagonist is not putting themselves in a box, but rather, acknowledging they are a work in progress.

I like that this one isn't just fluffy but looks at gender roles and issues as well. Plus it sounds fun. 🙂
Sounds like a fun read which covers a lot of deeper themes as well! Also, I love both those movies so this sounds perfect!
