Let’s Kiss and Tell is the follow-up to It’s Different This Time, which I reviewed last fall. Let’s Kiss and Tell was more my vibe!
I thought Let’s Kiss and Tell had a lot of psychological depth, including two characters with different mental roadblocks preventing them from feeling safe enough to fall in love. Thus, they get involved in a VERY unwise fake dating scheme that could get them fired, as they are colleagues.
A workaholic news reporter for the LA Journal, Marsh broke off a ten-year relationship, and now his ex is getting married. He’d love a date for the event.
Sex and relationship writer Lucy shares her sex-positive lifestyle with her readers. But research shows that those readers are coupling up and want to hear about navigating a relationship. So Lucy decides to get a fake boyfriend.
What I loved most about this book was watching Lucy and Marsh dating all over Southern California. These kind of “hang out” scenes can drive me crazy when other authors do them, but Lucy and Marsh weren’t too cutesy. They were funny and relatable. They need to hang out with Cassia and Ellis from One & Only, who also love to do fun stuff in LA.
Since this book had a high-stakes fake dating premise, I was not surprised by the dramatic third-act breakup. I’m a fan of them when the book needs it, and I think this one did. This couple didn’t need a slow slide into true love, they needed a shake. This breakup gave them the time to do some much-needed work on themselves.
Let’s Kiss and Tell had
- A fully-explored Los Angeles area setting
- Fake dating that turns real.
- A high spice level. She’s a sex writer after all and has all the toys!
