Review of Falling Like Leaves by Misty Wilson: A Fall Romance Book

Ellis is beyond upset when her mother suddenly announces that the two of them are leaving New York City to relocate to boring Bramble Falls, Connecticut, where Ellis will be living in her aunt’s attic. Disaster!

This is the WORST news because Ellis is an ambitious girl with big plans: apply to Columbia, while continuing to rework old clothing in her spare time. Plus, she’ll really miss her dad.

Bramble Falls does have its charm, especially since Ellis arrives in peak fall season. But when she visits the Caffeinated Cat, a cute cat cafe, she runs into Cooper, a former friend who works there and now seems to hate her.

Will Ellis succumb to the fall vibe in Bramble Falls? Will she be flirting with Jake, a cute football player? Eating the delicious baked goods at the cat cafe? Is she falling for Cooper? Will she learn that her parents aren’t who she thought? SPOILER: YES!

Falling Like Leaves has:

  • A slow burn Friends to Enemies to Lovers romance
  • The most Fall vibes I have ever seen in a book: apple picking, hayrides, a corn maze, a Falling Leaves festival, pumpkin patches, a harvest moon, a cider tea party, a Boots and Blankets bonfire, and a Pumpkin Prom.
  • A Pretty in Pink vibe (with Ellis’s sewing)
  • References to Practical Magic, which inspires some of Ellis’s creations.

The book has a sweet romance that involves just a chaste kiss. If you want a closed door type romance, this is the pick for you!
