Review of The Great Outdoors by Kayla Olson

I just discovered Kayla Olson and she’s a new favorite!  If you enjoy low spice romance with developed characters, she (and The Great Outdoors) might be the perfect author for you!

Review of The Great Outdoors by Kayla Olson

Sadie’s boyfriend has just nixed her plans for their Italian adventure to go hiking, calling her high-maintenance. So Sadie signs up for the trip only to discover that he didn’t.

What to do? Well, Sadie, who seems modeled on the cheerful and constantly underestimated Elle Woods, packs up her essentials (silk pajamas, sleep mask, good coffee, and cute shoes) and heads off on the trip anyway.

The Great Outdoors had:

  • A fun opposites attract premise
  • A beautiful location in the High Sierras of California
  • Themes of healing from heartbreak and finding yourself
  • Low spice with just a few kissing scenes
  • Publication date: June 16 2026 by Atria. Thanks so much to them for the advance review copy.

the great outdoors is perfect For:

  • Readers looking for a Legally Blonde vibe in which a sunshine-y girlie girl charms a somewhat gruff guy.
  • Those who love a good fish out of water story (me!)
