Review of A Ruff Royal Christmas

Of course I have watched all the Netflix Royal Christmas Movies, so when I learned that the screenwriter for A Christmas Prince had written a royal holiday romance, I had to read it!

A Ruff Royal Christmas got off on a bit of a rough (ruff?) start for me as the main character is a bit of a pill.

Princess Ava was very close to her latefather, who always emphasized the role of duty. Fine, but Ava is also a nitpicking perfectionist who is kind of mean to Stormy, the border collie that her mother, Queen Kathleen, just adopted.

Stormy is a bit mischievous, which is why the Queen also hired Justin, a hunky dog trainer, to whip the puppy into shape.

When Stormy gets lost, Justin and Ava have to race to find him, all while pulling off the annual Christmas party at the palace.

Ava did grow on me, though she still wasn’t my favorite main character.

This Book Had:

  • A setting at Vailgate Castle in “Skydovia” that is a wink to all the fictional countries in the Netflix Holiday Universe: Aldovia, Belgravia, and Penglia.
  • Justin is a very patient love interest
  • Just like in the movies, there is a lot of Christmas spirit
  • This is totally PG with only a kissing scene.
  • Publication date: September 30, 2025 by Hawktale Publishing. Thanks so much to them for the advance review copy.

This book is Perfect For:

Fans of Netflix Christmas movies, royal holiday romance, and books with no spice at all.
