Sugar and Spice Bookshop Bakery
The Sugar and Spice Bookshop Bakery by Jennifer Page is a cozy romance about books, baking and following your dreams!

The Sugar and Spice Bookshop Bakery
The first few pages of The Sugar and Spice Bookshop Bakery by Jennifer Page made me think of a favorite Christmas movie, A Castle for Christmas, in which a bestselling author has to flee to Scotland after incurring the wrath of her readers over a plot development.
Louise is a book editor who flees London to her Yorkshire hometown after a career disaster. Her mother always hoped she’d come home and run her Gran’s Yorkshire bakery, but Louise has another idea: a bookshop.
The funniest part of the book is the locals stubborn refusal to let her turn the bakery into a bookshop. They just want the bakery’s famous ginger cake, thanks very much. (I want the recipe and hope the finished copy includes it.)
But Louise sticks to her guns, comes up with a hybrid concept, hires a local architect, and orders books. She’ll have to contend with the opinionated locals, plus face her career disaster head-on. (I loved that too, but it’s a spoiler.)
